Centenary of the consecration of Spain to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (1919-2019)

At the top of the Hill of angels in Madrid, there is a monument dedicated to the sacred heart that commemorates the consecration of Spain to the sacred heart on May 30, 1919. The monument was destroyed during the Spanish civil war and was rebuilt in 1965.

On this occasion, the Church declared the year 2019 jubilee year with plenary indulgence for the visit to the Basilica which was built under the monument.

The Bishop of Getafé, Mgr. Ginés Garcia Bertrán, has just published a working paper for the preparation of a new evangelization plan for the diocese. This will take the contributions of all the secular movements and associations dedicated to the apostolate.

The consultation paper asks, in nine chapters, the contribution of the laity to a renewed apostolate:

  1. Discernment
  2. Compromise
  3. Hope and revitalization
  4. Education and training
  5. Experience of God and fraternity
  6. Future, living the Apostolate in community
  7. Courage and joy
  8. Testimonial
  9. Holiness in everyday life

The movements and associations for the apostolate of the Laity of the diocese are currently studying the document to answer the Bishop.
