ON THE OCCASION OF THE FIRST WORLD DAY FOR GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY, THE RETIRED AND AGED CATHOLIC ASSOCIATION IN TANZANIA NATIONAL ORGANIZATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE PROPOSED

A WORLD ELDERLY DAY CELEBRATION PROGRAM WITH YOUNG PEOPLE IN TANZANIA ON  25th JULY 2021:

 

THE MOTTO:  "I AM ALWAYS WITH YOU" (MATTHEW 28:30)

 

BEFORE AND DURING MASS THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE SHOULD BE PERFORMED:

 

  1. Having a special Mass as a special activity for the celebration.
  2. Mass Procession will be held by the elderly, youth, and choirs of local churches before Mass.
  3. Mass Readings will be read: First by the Youth Leader and the second by one Elder.
  4. There will be gifts and offerings for the needy to be given by the Elderly together with the Youth.

All the Christians during the celebration will support us.

  1. The International Prayer for the Elders from Rome will be recited during Mass by the whole congregation.
  2. Message from the National Spiritual Counsellor to be read.

All Christians presents will participate in a special contribution of money, goods, and food to be given to the needy at the Parish.

 

Groups of Elders are among: Retirees, Church Ministers, Pastoral personnel, farmers, fishers and the unemployed are to be among the beneficiaries of the gifts and offerings of the day.

 

PROGRAM THAT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED AFTER MASS CELEBRATION ON THE DAY:

 

  1. A talk to be given by the Youth to honor their Elders.
  2. Good and constructive Counseling and advice will be given by the Elderly to their youth.
  3. A word of encouragement from the Mass Celebrant and Local Church leader to encourage new members to join our Association in Tanzania.
  4. Joint photo to be taken after Mass.
  5. The Elders who are unable to attend church will have the Eucharist given them during that period.
  6. The Main celebrant will be offered a gift for his service be he the Bishop or a Priest.
  7. Celebration after Mass by the groups will depend on their financial situation but not compulsory.
