SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE VIRGIN MARY

Assomption

August 15, we celebrate the solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

JESUS AND MARY ARE INSEPARABLE:

Jesus and Mary are inseparable, they are deeply united:

"they are ONE"

Mary is chosen by God to be the mother of his son. From her immaculate conception, the Holy Spirit comes into her and transforms her Being. In Jesus and Mary, heaven and earth come together. Mary radiates for the whole world, the love of the Trinity, each and every one of us benefits from it. She is the mother that Jesus gives us to walk in hope and welcome Salvation, beyond our sin. She bears witness to the mercy of her son who expresses the love of his Father for creation. Let us remember three teachings of our Mother:

- Mary is our Mother in faith. She gratefully receives the content of the faith of her ancestors. She adopts the attitude of Abraham, even if she does not immediately understand what God expects of her. She trusts in his Word.

- Mary, our Mother, is a prayerful woman. She prays in silence and in community. In the cave in Bethlehem, she gives birth to the Child Jesus. With Joseph, the shepherds and the Magi, in this newborn, she contemplates the incredible love of God for humanity. With Joseph, she will take the Child Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (Luke 2:22). In Nazareth she participates in Jewish prayer and goes on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem with her family (Luke 2:44). At Pentecost, she is gathered in prayer with the apostles (Acts 2:1).

- Mary our mother is a model of Love and hope. At Cana, she perceives the obvious lack of wine. She anticipates the drama and confidently calls out to her son: "even if his hour has not yet come (Jn 2-3). Like any mother, Mary watches over each of her children, especially the most delicate, the least brilliant. She strengthens their perseverance. Thanks to Mary, Jesus' hour has come.

Blessed are you Lord, in honour of the Virgin Mary.

Give us, like Her, the grace to remain faithful to you in faith, prayer and charity.
