The year 2021, Saint Joseph Year
Father Gregory Mashtaki, Spiritual Advisor for Anglophone Africa invites us to meditate on the figure of Saint Joseph, under whose patronage the year 2021 is placed.
For the month of October the theme chosen is the following: Saint Joseph (The Elderly) in silent obedience to the will of God.
"We know that he was a humble carpenter (cf. Mt 13:55) promised in marriage to Mary (cf. Mt 1:18; Lk 1:27); a righteous man « (cf. Mt 1:19) always ready to carry out the will of God, manifested in his Law (cf. Lk 2:22,27,39) and through four dreams (cf. Mt 1:20; 2:13,19,22)
In every circumstance of his life, Joseph knew how to pronounce his "fiat", just like Mary at the Annunciation, and like Jesus in Gethsemane.
We can all find in St. Joseph the man who goes unnoticed, the man of the daily presence, discreet and hidden, an intercessor, a support and a guide in moments of difficulty.
