MCR projects

Three projects are underway, the gathering to celebrate the 60th anniversary, walking together with the young people of WYD, the reflection on the pastoral care of the elderly.

The 60th anniversary of the MCR, a great celebration that will bring us together in Lourdes from 13 to 15 June 2023.

"Bearers of joy on the paths of life"

Three days to remember past decades, to meet again after these last years of weaning from encounters, but which made us discover and invent other ways to find each other... vitality of the MCR!

Three days to look to the future, to realize that we must remain active and missionary at the heart of society and the Church. The new orientation report will therefore be one of the important elements of this meeting, but not only! The presentation of the work of the other commissions on formation, spiritual accompaniment, so important in a movement like ours, will also be a strong point, because the demand for formation accessible to all is strong... thirst for the MCR!

Three days also to realize that Catholic movements are far from obsolete. The meeting with Pope Francis in January 2022 boosted us and showed the need to strengthen our links between movements, because we can be the missionaries of tomorrow...  hope of the MCR!

Three days to celebrate, nourish our faith, strengthen our various commitments: we are gathered in the Marian city... faith of the MCR!

Finally, three days of joy to sing, share bread ... and the birthday cake, convinced that carrying the good news is a joy... joy of the MCR!

  • MCR and WYD: walking together!

The essence of this project is to connect generations, to live an intergenerational, spiritual and fraternal communion between young and old through the 37th WYD that will take place in Lisbon from July 25 to August 6, 2023. This action is a continuation of the World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly, which this year will take place two days before the departure of the young people for Portugal; a great opportunity to invite these young people to Lisbon.

The MCR suggests three types of actions:

-Pray, pray for each other and for this extraordinary feast. Pray at home, in an MCR team, in a parish or during the highlights organized by young people.

-Create links between young and old and help each other to create an alliance between generations. This can be done during organized meetings, or on July 23 on the occasion of the "Temps du Goûter" organized by the MCR. It will also involve supporting any funding initiative to help young people, in their diocese of departure, in the dioceses crossed by them during their convergence towards Portugal and to support national initiatives.

-Live in communion during the week thanks to modern communication tools. Thanks to the contacts established before departure, young people will be asked to send short daily videos reflecting their individual and collective activities; videos that will be sent by WhatsApp and posted on the MCR website. This will make it possible to share geographical, human, spiritual discoveries, emotions, joys and perhaps also sorrows. These videos will also make it possible, on the return of the event, to participate in review events.

In each diocese, the teams mobilized by their diocesan leader are called to creativity and to work in conjunction with the diocesan committees of WYD.

Our society is marked by a lack of trust and a loss of hope. Where we can, acting for a more beautiful, just, more fraternal world is truly a driving force. Only action can give us the joy.  By establishing kindness, attention, and consideration for young people, we will contribute to building the family that is the Church and to bridging the gap between generations, as Pope Francis calls us to do. By making this mobilization visible, a sign of solidarity and a source of hope, we respond to our vocation as a movement of Catholic action and we share the will of the Christian family, not only to proclaim the Gospel, but also to act together for the spiritual growth of all.

➔ For a pastoral care of the elders

A commission has just been set up to reflection this problem of old age, of the spiritual life of our elders, some of whom have been living forces of our movement.

The work begins, the reflection begins on the meaning to give to this life of senior: "I am always important for someone! ".

The questions arise: how to establish a link and solidarity between young seniors and grand seniors? How can an intergenerational link also be maintained? What are their expectations, and how can they be met? After preparing for retirement, how can you help prepare for old age and help you get through the end of life as well as possible? etc...

The questions are multiple because how to give meaning to this last stage of life, there is the problem: finding concrete ways to achieve it.

This commission is at the dawn of its reflection.
