Report of Life Ascending

- Diocese of Machala, Province of El Oro - Ecuador.

Our Life Ascending movement is present in the diocese of Machala, in the pastoral area of Norte Cristo del Consuelo. We had been meeting since 2010 in the halls of Machala Cathedral on Fridays from 16:00 to 18:00 until we had to enter quarantine in April 2020.

After the COVID pandemic, we resumed activities on October 1, 2021, on the occasion of the consecration of the elderly in our group, we also recalled the memory of two colleagues who died of natural causes during the quarantine: Jesus and Mary of Vicenza, responsible for the evangelization of the northern area of Machala; Our work focuses on:

Weekly meeting: Saturdays from 14:30 to 17:00 in the chapel of Cristo del Consuelo.

We have developed our work with the Sisters of St. Dorothea, Daughters of the Sacred Heart.

Annual retreat and coexistence with the elderly of the movement and invitations open to other parishes of our diocese of Machala.

Coordination with other apostolic movements and groups under the supervision of our bishop Vicente Saeteros Sierra. Evaluations of all the monthly work and presentation of the POA in accordance with the diocesan pastoral plan.

We maintain the three fundamental pillars of the charism of our movement:

Spirituality: through days of conviviality, collaboration with the Eucharist in each chapel, wherever we are solicited, as well as missions during Holy Week and Easter.

Apostolate: with the parish face of Christ of Consolation and around the Vulnerable of the diocese, we carry out social work as much as possible, such as: visiting the sick, distributing food to people with limited resources.

Friendship: We interact and integrate to live this pillar with the celebration of each anniversary of the members of the movement, excursions, and recreational walks. We also commemorate the Christmas novena. Novena of the Dead, Mother's Day, Day of the Elderly, Feast of St. Joachim and St. Anne, patron saints of the movement.
