A NEW INITIATIVE …

A meeting with the President of the Mouvement chrétien des retraités (MCR) on May 3rd 2024

The Executive Committee of Vie Montante Internationale and its members are very distant geographically and if the “reunions” during major international meetings are always a source of joy, exchanges and sharing, they are not enough to get to know each other better because they are too far apart, as some members present at the last international meeting in Madrid in September 2023 regretted.

Today's technological means, website, ZOOM meetings, "Whasapp" application and others allow frequent and fruitful exchanges as shown by the relationship which is recalled in our News.

With the aim of knowing ourselves better, getting closer to our member countries and strengthening the meaning and feeling of belonging to the association, while sharing initiatives, projects, concerns... the executive committee of Vie Montante Internationale wanted to invite a movement leader to one of its monthly meetings.

The first invitation of this type which would subsequently be repeated with other movement leaders around the world was made to Anne-Marie Maison, President of the MCR and to one of the vice-presidents, Bernard Dabadie.

The challenges facing both the MCR on the national territory and the VMI at the international level were confronted and the president of the MCR proposed actions that could be shared and relayed in other member countries.

The work paths mentioned on which you can reflect and get involved if you wish are as follows:

  • it was recalled that within the universal Church it is spirituality that unites us. It is experienced in different ways depending on the country, with prayer we could share moments of communion
  • The actions within the framework of Laudato Si’ which were a strong element of the MCR during the period 2015-2018 will be taken up with Laudate Deum, they could be confronted
  • With intergenerational, how do we transmit the faith, what can we offer?
  • The implementation of pastoral care for the elderly is progressing in certain countries. We could help each other move the process forward.
