SYNOD ON SYNODALITY
4 months before the second Synodal Assembly (October 2024), the Conference of Bishops of France (CEF) sends to Rome the summary of the contributions received in France
Since October 2021, at the initiative of Pope Francis, the entire universal Church has engaged in a synodal approach: “For a synodal Church. Communion, participation, missions.” To prepare for the second assembly of the synod scheduled for next October, the Synod Secretariat has asked movements, parish groups, diocesan services, religious congregations and various associations to share their experiences of synodality and co-responsibility.
As part of this approach, Monique Ptak with the Christian Mouvement chrétien des retraités of the Diocese of Evreux participated on April 14 in the Synodal Assembly organized at the request of the local bishop, Mgr Olivier de Cagny, to prepare the summary work carried out in the diocese.
The Evreux meeting took place as follows:
- a plenary assembly in the presence of the bishop and numerous priests, religious and laity of the diocese
- a review of the assessments of the 32 returns for 250 participants was made recalling the themes most often worked on
- a time of work in a group of 8 people: with a conversation in the Spirit (dynamic of discernment in the synodal Church), a time of speaking, a time of listening, construction together and synthesis
- prayer of thanksgiving with restitution of works for the diocese by Mgr de Cagny
The final document was sent to the CEF, which produced a national synthesis for transmission to the Synod Secretariat.
