Online meetings continue in preparation for the Second International Congress on the Pastoral Care of the Elderly. These events, as well as similar ones with Africa and America, organized in December 2024, involved representatives from no fewer than 80 episcopal conferences, creating an important opportunity for dialogue and discussion in preparation for the 2nd International Congress on the Pastoral Care of the Elderly, to be held in Rome from October 2 to 4, 2025.

In his homily read by Cardinal De Donatis during Ash Wednesday Mass, Pope Francis gave the direction to follow for the Lenten journey towards Easter, "between the memory of our fragility and the hope that at the end of the road the Risen One will await us."

Twenty years ago, on April 2, 2005, Pope John Paul II was called to God after more than 26 years at the helm of the Catholic Church. He was beatified in 2011 and canonized in 2014.

A celebration presided over by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, took place in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
