The warm sun of Santo Domingo rose on the 3Th Day of our meeting.
Monsignor Benito Angeles Fernandez was our guest this morning.
Appointed auxiliary Bishop of Santo Domingo by Pope Francis in August 2017, he is charged in his country with the pastoral of elderlies.
It specifies he does only begin his mission and that a commission will be active from February 2019.
Thanking us for the invitation, he says it is an opportunity for him today to know and share what we live and that could serve him.
Monseigneur Fernandez presided the celebration of the Eucharist surrounded by his priest brothers.
The afternoon was devoted to the discovery of this country which welcomes us with so many smiles, of warmth a nice one. A visit was Organized In a nursing home managed by a congregation of Franciscan sister since 1986 when they returned after being expelled and the house was open to women (240 residents today). We discovered the vicissitudes of a denser traffic in the streets of St. Domingo to reach the beautiful cathedral Our Lady of the Incarnation, all Stone Ochres, built in 1512, America's first cathedral. Christophe Columbus remains rested therebefore being transferred at the Museum of the Discovery of America in 1992.
After a detour to the colonial district, tired and fulls of emotion, the participants took a good rest.
