In Mauritius, Ascending Life takes initiatives in the field of Apostolate
On 19 March 2019, at the invitation of Cardinal Maurice Piat, Marie-Noëlle Luchmun, head of Ascending Life of Mauritius and Wolfgang Schmitz, Spiritual advisor of the movement, visited the bishopric.
Here are the proposals that emerged from this interview:
- Masses on weekdays at a time that is suitable for the elderly and where the focus would be on a catechesis adapted to the 3th age and by the 3th age.
An example: a mass for the sick with the sacrament of the sick during the mass. This mass would be prepared, animated by elderly people, and nourished by life-testimonies. LA members could offer this formula to their parish priest and collaborate in setting it up.
- the 3th age must benefit from an apostolate: prepare the elderly, the sick to receive the sacraments of reconciliation, of the Eucharist and the Holy anointing; this service can be provided by lay people, in collaboration with the priest, each remaining in its role.
- build on the Kléopas project, which focuses on family catechesis: where grandparents have a role to play insofar as they do not interfere with that of parents.
Conclusion: we are invited to reflect and apply these recommendations in our group and our movement by giving members the means to do so.
