October 1^st in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Barthélémy Mopiti, president of VM Congo DRC told us that this day of October 1^st   dedicated to the elderly was organized by Fenapa, a secular organization to which VM is attached; as the President says in his last letter, Fenapa "allows the elderly to meet without distinction of sex, tribe, religion or political coloration to talk about the problems concerning them... Every human being, he comments, has two umbrellas that frame him, one spiritually, the other bodily." This day of October 1^st provided an opportunity to remind the audience of the establishment by the Holy Father of the First World Day of Grandparents and The Elderly, which will henceforth take place every year on the fourth Sunday of July.
