The wishes of the members of the Executive Committee
Unravelling the mystery of the origins of our Universe, such is the mission assigned to the James Webb Space Telescope; the technological prowess and scientific performance that its realization represents, arouse in me a real wonder that I want to share with you; it will form the material of the wishes that I address to you for 2022.
May this faculty of wonder always be present in each of you, illuminates your daily life as the days go by; may everyone find in it the strength to go through the ordeal of the pandemic that is obscuring the horizon; may it constantly renew your will to work to safeguard this miracle that is Creation; may it be a source of energy and dynamism, to move us forward together, old and young, towards a well-founded future, on our respective riches, on the one hand the experience and memory of the elders, on the other, the enthusiasm and dreams of the young.
Wishes for a year 2022 full of hope to live in groups, in your commitments and in the perspective of the Steering Committee in Uganda.

Since the fight against the COVID pandemic has been declared, various forms of vaccines have been offered. Many use the so-called RNA messenger technique. The three letters RNA become familiar, as well as three others: DNA. We are taught that RNA reproduces DNA, which is like the identity card of each of our cells.
LAI also has its DNA; it is designated not by three letters but by three words: friendship, spirituality, apostolate. To designate these same realities, the LAI presentation document uses three other words: fraternal life, spiritual life, commitment. He calls them the three pillars of our movement. These three pillars are also the foundation of our lives as baptized; they are not lived independently of each other, they support each other. This is our DNA as members of LAI; we implement it in Life Ascending groups, but also, we share it with other people around us, whether they are elder or younger.
Let us be in 2022 messengers of friendship, spirituality, and commitment. In this way, we will contribute to a healthier world.
Father François Maupu, Ecclesiastical Assistant

In these days of Christmas, I meditate on John the Baptist, Simeon, and Anne. They saw and recognized the Saviour in His Mother's womb and during the child's presentation in the temple.
They are prophets who stand on the boundary between the Old and New Testaments and reach out to us so that we learn to recognize the Truth and the fulfilment of the Promise.
May his mediation teach us to look with discernment and to understand through listening. This will help us rise from the burden of loneliness that seniors are suffering from as a result of the pandemic. United, we will immerse ourselves in the true meaning of our lives.
May the pandemic cease throughout 2022 and may the Holy Spirit enlighten us with his gifts to know how to transmit his wisdom and help us understand.

In the light of Christmas and at the dawn of this new year, I hope that all LAI groups around the world will once again be able to come together in joy and serenity, make beautiful encounters, can once again dream of new projects to ensure a bright future for our movements.
The LAI newsletter team will continue to share, every month and beyond our borders, all the proposals and initiatives that the movements of each continent will make known to us and for which we thank them.
Take good care of yourself and I wish you and all your loved ones a happy and holy year 2022, free from all the anxieties of our time and ready to live again.
With my fraternal friendship,
Monika Ptak, Secretary

At the start of the new year, what can I wish you?
First of all, to keep the faith and to regain confidence, confidence in yourselves, confidence in your neighbour and to find that confidence in the foundations of your faith.
Then, to make your hope a path of conviction for a world without pandemic, without climate change, a more human and more fraternal world.
Finally, to be "charity", that is to say, "Love that act" and thus to be, in the image of Christ, light for the world.
May 2022 be a year of light for everyone.
Christian Liebenguth, Treasurer

At the beginning of this new year, I wish you all the best for yourself, your families, your loved ones, and your groups.
Faced with the clouds that seem to be accumulating on our heads for two years in the health, but also climatic, social, or economic fields, let us know that God is with us and does not abandon us. Let us remain confident.
Let us hope that the sky will clear a little and that we will finally be able to return to a more normal life, that the solidarities that emerged during the crisis will continue to manifest themselves in order to move towards a more just world and towards peace.
Let us hope that our "physical" meetings will resume with new impetus, not being afraid of new initiatives in favour of the poorest, the isolated and the young, as Pope Francis wishes.
Let us hope that LAI can hold its next international meetings in "face-to-face", that is to say its steering committee in October 2022 in Uganda, and its international meeting and General Assembly in 2023 in Spain.
May this year see your dearest dreams come true!
Best regards
