Happy Birthday to Vie Montante Benin

It was on November 12, 1996, that the Vie Montante Benin movement was carried on the baptismal font at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Ouidah, the national headquarters of the movement.

Initially, the movement was established in some parishes of the dioceses of Cotonou, Porto-Novo, Abomey, N'Dali and Natitingou.  Today, it is only in the Archdiocese of Cotonou and in the Diocese of Porto-Novo that some parish sections of Vie Montante are still active: out of a dozen parishes in Cotonou, out of six parishes in Porto-Novo.

The decline in numbers did not prevent the movement from blowing out its 25 candles; The event took place in the Parish of Saint Anne of Attakè in the Diocese of Porto-Novo, on November 14, 2021 with a Mass of thanksgiving presided over by Monsignor Aristide GONSALLO, Bishop of Porto-Novo. In his homily, Archbishop Gonsallo gave thanks to God who knew how to put in the hearts of the pioneers the intuition to bring together retirees and to allow them to live fully a spiritual, human and fraternal life. Bishop invited the assembly to hope: “To believe that every end is a beginning is to hope. This is the meaning of the Resurrection. “

As part of the preparations for the celebration of this Silver Jubilee, a triduum was organized in all the parishes that house a section of Vie Montante and presentations followed by debates were organized on the theme: "the happiness of aging".

The commitment made by the elders of Vie Montante Bénin for the next 5 years is to meet the sections of Vie Montante a little asleep and to extend the Mouvement to other dioceses of Benin.

To mark the event, a tree symbol of the 25 years was planted by the Bishop on the Parish of Sainte Anne d'Attakè.

The party continued around a lunch that the seniors shared in a festive atmosphere at the height of the event in outfits designed for the occasion.
