Life Ascending Uganda in the Archdiocese of Gulu

In 2019, Life Ascending Uganda was created with Margaret Mugeni as president.

At the beginning of April of this year, the latter informed us with joy of the authorization just sent to her by the Archbishop of Gulu to operate the association in the region.

It is in the following terms that the authorization has reached her.

“I do recall well and appreciate the short visit in 2019 in which you and Mr Atim, your husband, clearly presented to me the nature and objectives of the association.

Given the great importance that the Church attaches to the apostolate and the holistic pastoral care of the elderly and taking into account the most recent teachings and exhortations of the Holy Father Pope Francis to us that the elderly do have a role in God’s saving plan and that we should seriously reflect in order to learn to grasp and appreciate the value of the old age and considering that the Life Ascending Uganda association is a good means in this apostolate, I, the Ordinary of the Archdiocese of Gulu, do grant to the Association permission to start and operate formally in the Archdiocese.

Kindly liaise with the Executive Secretary of the Archdiocesan Lay Apostolate Commission so that you have a good and smooth start. Provide all necessary information that the Lay Apostolate department may ask you regarding the association.

I assure you of my prayers and blessings and I take this chance to wish you all a fruitful conclusion of the Holy Season of Lent and a joyous celebration of the pascal mysteries. Happy Easter.”
