PENTECOST
"The wonders of God in every language"
"I will not leave you orphans," said Jesus. Fifty days after Easter, the Jews celebrate the gift of the law to Moses on Mount Sinai. It is this same day that the Holy Spirit will be given to the disciples gathered together with Mary to pray.
Since that day, the Holy Spirit accompanies the Church. At Pentecost, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised, "he will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you; He will guide you into all the truth "(Jn. 14.26 and 16.13).
In the narrative that the book of the acts of the Apostles makes of Pentecost (acts 2.1-13), one element touches me particularly is that "we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!". Each of the people present hears the word of the Apostles in their own language.
At LAI we have the plurality of languages. There are "official" languages, English, Spanish and French. And there are many others (Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, Flemish, Romanian...). I also think of the diversity of cultures, sensitivities, experiences. What richness if we come to share the wonders that God realizes today with us and the achievements of his spirit in our countries and in our lives.
What do we do with it?
Let us praise God for his wonders. Let's make them known. Let us share them fraternally among members of Life Ascending International.
